Newport Gran Sandra Burnell Honoured With Favourite Pot Noodle at Funeral — Family and Mourners Each Receive a Pot Across Wales

NEWPORT, WALES — Sandra Burnell, a 72-year-old grandmother from Newport, was laid to rest with her favourite Pot Noodle placed inside her coffin, as her family chose to celebrate her lifelong love of the instant snack in a deeply personal and memorable send-off at Gwent Crematorium.

Pot Noodle Was Sandra’s Constant Comfort Despite Ongoing Health Struggles

Sandra had been living with heart problems that severely limited what foods she could tolerate. Through those ongoing health challenges, Pot Noodles remained one of the few foods she could enjoy, and she made them a regular part of her daily routine — eating them in front of the TV.

Her daughter Tracy described the attachment plainly, saying her mum had become genuinely obsessed with them over time.

Favourite Flavour Placed in Coffin as Final Farewell

When Sandra passed away, her family ensured her best-loved snack was with her until the very end. Her favourite flavour of Pot Noodle was placed inside the coffin as part of the funeral arrangements, reflecting just how central the humble snack had become to her everyday life and identity.

72 Pots Handed to Mourners and Order of Service Covered in Pot Noodle Images

A funeral director purchased 72 pots of the beef and tomato variety — one for each year of Sandra’s life — and placed them on the pews at Gwent Crematorium for mourners to take home after the service.

The order of service was also covered in pictures of the instant snack, turning the entire farewell into a heartfelt tribute to something that brought Sandra genuine daily joy. Stay with GordonRamsayClub.com for the latest updates and detailed coverage.
