STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA — A 43-year-old man has been arrested after police say he attempted to kidnap a young girl at gunpoint in the city’s Park District.
Authorities identified the suspect as Juan Gonzalez, 43, following the incident that unfolded in the 400 block of North Pilgrim Street.
What Police Say Happened
According to the Stockton Police Department, the female juvenile victim was in the listed area when the suspect allegedly drove up beside her, displayed a firearm, and demanded that she get into his vehicle.
Police said the victim complied with the suspect’s demand. However, she later convinced him to let her go, allowing her to escape the situation.
Officers responded to the area shortly after the incident was reported.
Arrest Made in the Park District
Law enforcement officials located Gonzalez in the area and took him into custody without further reported incident.
He was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, authorities confirmed.
