CRANSTON, RHODE ISLAND — Cranston police are investigating a fatal shooting after a young man was shot and killed inside a residence on Legion Way near Cranston East High School’s stadium.
The shooting occurred around 9 p.m. Thursday, prompting a large police response to the residential neighborhood.

According to investigators, the victim was inside the home when he answered the door and encountered a suspect who opened fire, striking him.
The young man was pronounced dead following the shooting. His identity has not yet been publicly released.
