MIAMI, FLORIDA โ A 23-year-old man has been arrested after police say he allegedly shot his ex-girlfriend inside the Miami nail salon where she works, leaving her injured and sending customers into panic.
Authorities identified the suspect as Job Jocelyn, who was taken into custody on January 16 and charged with attempted felony murder and possession of a firearm while under a protection order.
Alleged Confrontation Inside the Salon
According to investigators, the incident unfolded after Jocelyn reportedly showed up at the nail salon despite being told to stop contacting the victim. Police said he had been repeatedly calling and texting her about their relationship prior to the confrontation.
Surveillance footage from inside the salon allegedly captured the two arguing before Jocelyn pulled out a firearm and shot the woman in the left thigh, authorities said.
Witnesses told police they heard shouting followed by a gunshot. Moments later, the victim was seen running from the salon while bleeding.
Protection Order and Prior Case
Court records show Jocelyn had previously been served with a risk protection order connected to a prior domestic violence case. Despite that order, police allege he was in possession of a firearm at the time of the shooting.
After the incident, officers located and arrested him. He was ordered held without bond and instructed to stay away from the victim.
Community Reaction and Ongoing Investigation
The shooting has left employees and customers shaken, as the violence occurred inside what is typically considered a safe, everyday workplace. Authorities have not released additional details about the victimโs condition but confirmed she survived the shooting.
Police continue to investigate the incident, including reviewing surveillance footage and witness statements.
