STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA — A Chevron gas station on Trinity Parkway in north Stockton was robbed late Saturday night when four masked suspects entered the store and demanded money at gunpoint before fleeing the scene in a vehicle believed to be stolen.
The robbery occurred on March 1 at approximately 9:30 p.m., according to witnesses who described a coordinated group entering the convenience store while wearing medical masks and threatening staff inside the business.
What Happened During the Robbery
Witness accounts say four men entered the Chevron store armed with a gun and demanded cash from employees. Due to the store’s deposit policy, the suspects were only able to obtain about $40 in cash from the register.
After discovering there was little cash available, two of the suspects reportedly jumped over the counter and began filling bags with cartons of cigarettes from behind the register.
The robbery happened quickly, and the group left the location shortly afterward with the stolen items.
Suspicious Activity Reported Nearby
Around the same time, suspicious activity was reported next door at a Jack in the Box restaurant, located near the Chevron station.
A man wearing a puffy jacket despite the warm weather reportedly entered the restaurant and attempted to convince a cashier to exchange a $100 bill for smaller currency. Witnesses said a similar request had been made moments earlier at the Chevron station.
The unusual behavior led some people to suspect the individual may have been acting as a lookout or coordinating with the group involved in the robbery.
Mother Warns Customers Inside Nearby Restaurant
During the incident, a mother reportedly ran into the Jack in the Box and warned people inside that a robbery was taking place nearby. She urged customers to leave the restaurant and gather their children because she feared the suspects might target the restaurant next.
Several individuals helped escort the woman and her children safely outside and toward their vehicle while others briefly checked the nearby Chevron location.
By the time people went to investigate, the suspects had already fled the scene.
Suspects Escape in Possible Stolen Vehicle
Witnesses said the suspects left the area in a dark SUV, possibly a Honda CR-V. Sources later indicated the vehicle may have been reported stolen out of Oakland, though authorities have not publicly confirmed additional details about the suspects.
The robbery has raised concerns among local residents and businesses in the Trinity Parkway area, which includes several restaurants, retail stores, and dealerships such as Mercedes-Benz of Stockton, along with nearby businesses like Dutch Bros Coffee and Jack in the Box.
Police have not yet released suspect descriptions beyond the group reportedly wearing masks during the robbery.
Investigators are expected to review surveillance footage from the gas station and surrounding businesses to identify those responsible.
