BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — A disturbing case out of South Florida has drawn attention after a 34-year-old woman was photographed smirking in her mugshot following her arrest for allegedly shooting her own sister inside a home where three young children were present.
Authorities say the suspect, identified as Magdalena Dybkowska, was taken into custody after deputies responded to a chaotic scene early in the morning involving gunfire, a wounded woman, and several children inside the residence.
The case unfolded in Broward County when deputies were dispatched around 4 a.m. after a neighbor reported hearing multiple gunshots. According to the report, someone had also knocked on the neighbor’s door shortly before fleeing the area in a vehicle, leaving behind a backpack covered in blood.
What Deputies Found When They Arrived
When deputies arrived at the residence connected to the call, investigators say Dybkowska answered the door. Officers quickly noticed blood inside the home and began issuing commands for her to step outside. Instead of complying immediately, authorities say she retreated back into the house before deputies eventually detained and handcuffed her.
Inside the home, deputies discovered three children who were reportedly unharmed. However, investigators also located blood on a couch and other areas of the residence, indicating a violent incident had recently occurred. Because of the situation, the three children were removed from the home and later placed into the custody of Child Protective Services while the investigation continued.
Sister Appears at Hospital With Gunshot Wound
While deputies were still investigating the scene, the case took another turn. Authorities say Dybkowska’s sister later arrived at HCA Woodmont Hospital in Tamarac suffering from a gunshot wound. According to investigators, the wounded woman’s boyfriend told police that the two sisters had been involved in an argument before the shooting occurred. During the confrontation, he reportedly attempted to intervene and separate them.
That’s when, according to his account to investigators, Dybkowska allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot her sister at close range. The injured woman was treated at the hospital for the gunshot wound. Officials have not publicly released additional details about her condition.
Investigators Still Searching for a Motive
Despite the serious nature of the incident, authorities say the exact cause of the argument that led to the shooting remains unclear. Investigators are continuing to piece together the timeline of events from the early-morning incident, including how the wounded sister left the residence and made her way to the hospital.
The presence of the three children during the alleged shooting has also raised additional concerns as detectives examine the circumstances inside the home. As the case moves through the legal process, many questions remain about what triggered the violent confrontation between the two sisters.
Incidents like this often leave communities shaken, especially when family disputes escalate into serious violence inside the home. As investigators continue reviewing evidence and witness statements, officials say more details could emerge in the coming weeks. For more breaking stories and updates, visit GordonRamsayClub.com.
