Florida Man Arrested After Allegedly Trapping Woman and Her Toddler During Date Gone Wrong at Miami Apartment

MIAMI, FLORIDA — A Florida man is behind bars after police say a first date turned into a frightening ordeal for a woman who had traveled three hours with her toddler daughter to meet him.

Saady Castellanos Triminio, 34, was arrested by Miami police and is facing charges of robbery, child neglect, false imprisonment, and battery by strangulation. According to a probable cause affidavit, the woman met Castellanos Triminio earlier this month through a social media dating app.

Three-Hour Trip From Orlando to Miami

Investigators say the woman agreed to travel from Orlando to Miami by train on Friday to meet Castellanos Triminio in person. She brought along her 3-year-old daughter.

Police said Castellanos Triminio picked them up from the train station, and the pair were expected to go out for dinner. Instead, he allegedly ordered a pizza and brought them back to his apartment located in the 7800 block of NE Bayshore Court.

Once inside, the woman told officers she began feeling uneasy.

Uneasy Feeling Inside the Apartment

According to the affidavit, she noticed the bathroom lacked toilet paper and described the apartment as generally dirty. Despite her discomfort, she stayed briefly and continued speaking with him.

At one point, Castellanos Triminio allegedly asked for a hug and kiss. The woman declined, telling him they were just friends and that she wanted to leave. She began gathering her belongings.

That’s when, according to police, the situation escalated.

Alleged Restraint and Strangulation

Authorities say Castellanos Triminio became angry and told her it was too dangerous to leave. The affidavit states he bear-hugged her and physically blocked her from exiting the room.

When she attempted to text a friend for help, police say he grabbed her phone. As she began screaming, officers allege he covered her mouth and nose with his hand, preventing her from yelling and making it difficult for her to breathe.

She was eventually able to break free and locked herself in a room with her daughter. From there, she contacted a friend, who called 911.

Police Rescue Shortly Before 3 A.M.

Officers responded to the apartment shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday. Police instructed the friend to tell the woman to make noise so officers could locate her inside.

Castellanos Triminio allegedly opened the door, and officers were able to rescue the woman and her child. Police observed bruising on both of her arms but said she did not require medical treatment.

Suspect’s Alleged Admission

After being read his Miranda rights, Castellanos Triminio allegedly admitted to preventing her from leaving because he believed it was too dangerous. He also reportedly acknowledged covering her mouth and nose so neighbors would not hear.

He remains in the Miami-Dade County jail without bond. Records indicate there is also an immigration hold placed against him.

As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and Castellanos Triminio is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
