Creamy French Silk Chocolate Pie

Creamy, chocolatey, and rich this French silk chocolate pie is so delicious and nice! And as I mentioned many times, I really love a dessert that does not require baking – just like this French silk pie! It is light and fluffy – like a mousse! Here is the recipe:

French Silk Pie
Servings 10 to 12

Ingredients:

  • 1 Oreo pie crust
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 envelope gelatin
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 8 oz. semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream, whipped (optional)

Instructions:

  • In a heatproof bowl, pour the milk and sprinkle the gelatin. Let sit for 3 minutes, until it sets a little.
  • Apply the bowl on top of a saucepan with hot water (ensuring that the bowl doesn’t touch the water). Put the egg yolks, the chocolate, and 1/4 cups sugar.
  • Heat on low and stir constantly just until the gelatin is dissolved and the chocolate is melted. Remove and stir in the vanilla.
  • Cover the chocolate mix with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for around 45-50 minutes until starting to set. Don’t refrigerate longer!
  • In the meantime, beat the egg whites in a bowl until soft peaks form. Slowly, whip in the remaining 1/4 cup sugar and carry on to beat until firm peaks form.
  • Apply the egg whites into the chilled chocolate mix and place the pie filling into the pie crust.
  • Then, cover the chocolate pie with plastic wrap and place in the fridge to set, around 3-4 hours.
  • Just before serving, garnish the pie with whipped cream. Slice and enjoy!
