STERLING HEIGHTS, MICHIGAN — A disturbing animal cruelty case in Macomb County has led to felony charges against a 31-year-old man accused of killing his former girlfriend’s dog in a violent incident that prosecutors say was captured on video.
Authorities identified the suspect as Fouad Yaldo, who was arraigned in connection with the death of an 8-year-old Yorkshire Terrier named Teddy.
Allegations of Violent Attack on Dog
According to prosecutors, Yaldo allegedly picked up the small dog and punched it at least twice with significant force. The blows were severe enough to cause fatal injuries. Investigators say the dog was then placed on the ground, where it stopped moving shortly after the attack.
Dog Reportedly Died in Owner’s Arms
In a particularly troubling detail, authorities allege that after realizing the dog was no longer moving, Yaldo picked it back up and carried it to his then-girlfriend.
The woman reportedly held the dog as it died in her arms, adding to the emotional trauma of the incident.
Charges and Court Proceedings
Yaldo was formally arraigned on Friday, March 20, 2026, before Magistrate Jean M. Cloud in 41-A District Court in Sterling Heights.
The court set his bond at $75,000 cash or surety only, with no 10% option. If released, he will be required to wear a steel cuff tether and is prohibited from having any contact with animals.
Prosecutor Condemns Alleged Actions
Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido described the allegations as deeply disturbing, emphasizing that cases involving harm to animals are taken seriously.
Officials stated that animals deserve protection and that authorities intend to pursue justice for both the pet and its owner.
Investigation and Next Steps
The case remains under active investigation, with prosecutors reviewing evidence, including the reported video of the incident. If convicted, Yaldo could face significant penalties under Michigan law for felony animal cruelty.
Authorities continue to urge the public to report any suspected cases of animal abuse as the legal process moves forward. For more breaking news and updates, visit GordonRamsayClub.com.
