MARTIN COUNTY, FLORIDA — A multi-county theft operation targeting baby formula has led to the arrest of three Miami women, accused of stealing large quantities of products and reselling them for profit across South Florida.
According to authorities, the suspects traveled from Miami to Martin County, where they allegedly carried out a series of retail thefts involving baby formula. Deputies began tracking the group after reports surfaced of repeated thefts at multiple stores.
Theft Operation Spanned Multiple Locations
Investigators say the women would move quickly from store to store, stealing baby formula before heading to the next location to avoid detection. The coordinated approach allowed them to gather large amounts of merchandise in a short period of time.
A BOLO (Be On the Lookout) alert was issued, leading deputies to locate the suspects’ vehicle on Interstate 95 South.
Hundreds of Cans Found in Vehicle
When authorities stopped the vehicle, they discovered 262 cans of baby formula inside, with an estimated value of around $8,000.
The volume of stolen goods suggested an organized effort rather than isolated incidents.
Reselling Scheme for Profit
Investigators also revealed that the suspects were allegedly reselling the stolen formula, with reports indicating they sold approximately 100 cans for $1,000.
Authorities believe the operation was financially motivated and may have been part of a broader resale network.
Possible Connection to Larger Theft Ring
According to law enforcement, the suspects admitted to carrying out similar thefts multiple times per week, using the activity as a source of income.
Officials are now investigating whether the group is connected to a larger organized retail theft ring operating across South Florida.
Charges Filed Against Suspects
Each of the three women has been charged with felony retail theft involving more than $750. Additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues.
The case highlights growing concerns over organized retail theft and its impact on essential goods like baby formula.
