Beneficial Rainfall Totals Up to 4 to 6 Inches Expected Across Florida and Gulf Coast From Sunday May 24 Through June 1

TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA — Updated rainfall projections for the coming week are showing beneficial rain developing up and down the entire state of Florida, with the NBM 2.5 km model initialized at 12z on May 24, 2026 projecting significant totals valid through 12z Monday June 1, 2026.

NBM Blend of Models Shows 4 to 6 Inch Totals Across South and Central Florida

The highest precipitation values on the current model output are concentrated across south and central Florida, with totals reaching as high as 6.09 inches near the southern peninsula and values of 5.03, 5.21, and 4.68 inches visible across multiple neighboring counties.

Central Florida is also seeing strong projected totals in the 2.50 to 3.24 inch range, with the map showing deep red and orange shading blanketing the majority of the state from top to bottom.

North Florida and Panhandle Projected for 3 to 4 Inch Accumulations

Across northern Florida and into the Panhandle region, projected totals are sitting firmly in the 3 to 4 inch range. Values of 3.44, 3.60, 3.94, and 4.19 inches are visible across multiple northern counties, indicating the beneficial rain pattern is not limited to just the southern half of the state.

The Panhandle and far western sections are showing values pushing toward 4.33 to 4.91 inches in some spots, keeping that region well within the heavier end of the projected totals for the week.

Models Still Hinting at Higher Totals for Certain Areas as Pattern Evolves

Forecasters note it remains a little early to discuss exact specifics, as some models are still hinting at even higher totals for certain areas compared to others. The Blend of Models output currently provides the best available picture of what to expect through June 1.

The overall pattern points to a wet week ahead for Florida residents, but the rainfall is being described as beneficial rather than threatening, offering much-needed moisture up and down the entire state.
