NORTH CAROLINA — A warm and mostly pleasant Wednesday is on tap across North Carolina today, May 13, as a southerly flow ahead of an approaching cold front pushes high temperatures into the 70s and low 80s for most of the state under partly to mostly sunny skies.
Despite the warm afternoon, a few isolated showers are possible this evening into the overnight hours as the cold front moves in, though the front carries very limited moisture and most residents across the state will see little to no rainfall.
Temperatures Climbing Into the 70s and Low 80s Statewide Under Mostly Sunny Skies
High temperatures today across North Carolina are forecast to reach well into the 70s and low 80s for the majority of the state, fueled by a southerly wind flow running at 5 to 10 MPH ahead of the approaching cold front.
Charlotte is expected to reach 80 degrees today while Raleigh climbs to 80, Fayetteville hits 81, and Pinehurst reaches 81 degrees as the warmest spots across the state concentrate in the central and southern counties.
The western mountain communities will run cooler with Banner Elk at 69, Murphy at 64, and Highlands at 66, while the Outer Banks and coastal areas see highs ranging from the low to mid 70s.
Cold Front Brings Isolated Shower Chance This Evening Into Overnight
Clouds will begin to increase across North Carolina later this afternoon and evening as the cold front approaches from the west, signaling the end of the mostly sunny conditions that will dominate the daytime hours.
A couple of isolated showers will push eastward through the state this evening into the overnight hours, though forecasters note the front carries very limited moisture meaning only a few lucky spots will actually receive any meaningful rainfall.
The shower activity is expected to remain isolated and brief rather than widespread, keeping the overall rain impact minimal for the vast majority of North Carolina residents tonight.
Next 7 Days Will Bring Little to No Rain Across North Carolina
Beyond tonight’s isolated shower chance, North Carolina is heading into an extended dry stretch with little to no rain expected across the state for the next seven days.
The combination of today’s warm temperatures, tonight’s limited shower activity, and the dry week ahead reflects a pattern that will bring plenty of sunshine but very little precipitation relief to any areas that may need rainfall.
Residents should enjoy today’s warm and mostly sunny conditions as the pleasant weather is set to continue through the coming week with minimal weather concerns on the horizon. Stay with GordonRamsayClub.com for the latest updates.
