WARNER ROBINS, GEORGIA — An 18-year-old Georgia man, Lucas Hayden, is now facing serious criminal charges including aggravated assault, kidnapping, and criminal damage to property following a violent domestic incident at his pregnant girlfriend’s home in Warner Robins, Georgia on April 11. The victim, Ja’Dyia Smith, was five months pregnant at the time of the attack, during which Hayden allegedly kicked her in the stomach, choked her with her own leggings, and made a chilling statement about harming the unborn child.
How the Incident Began
Authorities say the situation began when Hayden and Smith got into an argument after Hayden allegedly took her phone. The dispute quickly escalated when Smith reportedly attempted to run him over with her car after the argument intensified.
A witness identified as Smith’s sister claimed Smith attempted to hit Hayden with the vehicle multiple times as he tried to walk away from the situation. Hayden then allegedly pulled Smith out of the car, took her keys, and went inside the home, temporarily locking her outside before eventually letting her back in.
Violence Escalates Inside the Home
The confrontation did not end there. Police say another altercation broke out inside the kitchen, which quickly turned physically violent. Hayden allegedly dragged Smith into a bedroom where the attack became significantly more serious.
Once inside the bedroom, Hayden allegedly kicked Smith directly in the stomach while she was five months pregnant. During the attack, authorities claim he made a deeply disturbing statement indicating he intended to harm the unborn child, adding a chilling dimension to the charges now filed against him.
Choking and Further Assault
Investigators say Hayden then used Smith’s own leggings along with his arm to choke her during the same attack. The combination of kicking a pregnant woman in the stomach and choking her resulted in the serious felony charges now being pursued by Georgia authorities.
