EL MONTE, CALIFORNIA — Officers from multiple agencies successfully saved a man from jumping off a freeway overpass on the 10 Freeway near Santa Anita Avenue in El Monte, after the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department Transit Services Bureau, El Monte Police Department, and California Highway Patrol responded to a report of a possible suicide attempt, with the bureau’s Mental Evaluation Team also providing critical support during the mental health crisis.
LASD Transit Services Bureau, CHP, and El Monte Police Responded to 10 Freeway Overpass
The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department Transit Services Bureau reported that deputies from their department, along with officers from the El Monte Police Department and California Highway Patrol, responded to a report of a possible suicide attempt on the 10 Freeway overpass near Santa Anita Avenue in El Monte.
The multi-agency response reflected the seriousness of the situation and the need for coordinated action to safely resolve a developing crisis on an active freeway overpass. All three agencies arrived at the scene and immediately began working together to reach the man and bring the situation under control.
