LAKE COUNTY, ILLINOIS — A 43-year-old Lake Villa man is facing serious criminal charges after investigators uncovered approximately 80 gigabytes of alleged child abuse material during a nearly two-month investigation, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities identified the suspect as Nicholas J. Gillespie, who has now been formally charged with multiple counts related to possession of illicit material.

Officials say the case developed over the course of a two-month investigation, during which authorities gathered evidence pointing to Gillespie’s alleged involvement in downloading and storing illegal files.

According to investigators, the search was carried out with the assistance of K9 units, specifically K9 Enzo and K9 Grip, who helped locate key evidence during the operation.
