VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA — An 11-year-old student in Volusia County has been arrested for the second time in less than a year after authorities say he threatened to shoot multiple teachers at a Florida middle school.
According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, the student allegedly used another student’s account to send a threatening message targeting seven teachers at DeLand Middle School.
The message reportedly included the phrase “I’ma shoot you,” prompting an immediate investigation by school officials and law enforcement.
Second Arrest in Less Than a Year
Deputies say the arrest marks the second time the same student has been taken into custody for making violent threats involving a school.
Authorities said the boy was already participating in a diversion program connected to a previous arrest from October 2025.
In that earlier case, investigators said the student allegedly sent a group message at another school stating “I’m gonna shoot you.” Officials say the new threat violated the terms of that diversion program and led to the latest arrest.
Threat Targeted Teachers at DeLand Middle School
Investigators say the student specifically threatened seven teachers at DeLand Middle School.
The message reportedly came from an account belonging to another student, suggesting the suspect used someone else’s profile to send the threats.
School officials quickly alerted authorities once the message was discovered.
Law enforcement moved swiftly to identify the student and take him into custody.
Another Student Arrested in Separate Threat Case
Authorities also revealed that another Volusia County student, age 10, was arrested a day earlier in a separate case involving school threats.
The incidents occurred within less than 24 hours of each other, raising concerns among local officials about the seriousness of threats made by students.
Law enforcement officials emphasized that all threats against schools are treated as serious criminal matters.
Sheriff Issues Warning to Parents
Following the arrests, Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood issued a direct message to parents about the importance of addressing dangerous behavior before it escalates.
The sheriff urged parents to talk with their children about the seriousness of making threats and the potential legal consequences.
“Parents, discipline your kids,” Chitwood said, stressing that young people must understand that threats of violence can lead to serious legal repercussions.
Officials say the case highlights how school threats — even when made by very young students — can quickly lead to criminal charges.
As the investigation continues, authorities say they remain committed to responding quickly to threats in order to protect students, teachers, and school communities. For more breaking stories and updates, visit GordonRamsayClub.com.
